Kim Brett
Kim Brett’s art examines our shared experiences of form and colour in relation to consumable objects that we use and dispose of. Her most recent serigraph prints reflect her concerns about the mass-distributed modality of home, health, and material waste. The superficial playfulness of her work provides the ground for a more sombre examination of the values and relationships our culture has constructed between each other and our manufactured world.
Brett graduated from the Fine Arts program at Georgian College and then completed her BFA at the University of Lethbridge where she majored in painting and focused on museum and gallery studies. She further studied painting at AUArts, and Communications and Media at the University of Calgary. Kim was awarded the Fine Arts Graduate Scholarship at Georgian, and the John Clark Scholarship in Art at the UofL which included a month-long artist residency at the Gushul Studio located in the scenic Crowsnest Pass.
While actively creating new work in her studio, Brett is also a sustaining member at the PRNT Collective and has exhibited her prints and paintings across Canada.

The gallery’s primary focus is on both emerging and mid-career artists, with a bold, ambitious, and forward-thinking programme dedicated to progressive and thought-provoking art.
